Candler’s program in public theological education is partnering with First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta to present TheoEd Talks, an ecumenical speaker series where leaders in the church and the academy share “the talk of their lives” in 20 minutes or less, aimed at sparking conversations that affect the way people think about God, religion and the power of faith to change lives. The event will feature speaker and author Austin Channing Brown; Presbyterian minister, speaker, and storyteller Mihee Kim-Kort; award-winning author and Candler alum Jonathan Merritt 10T; and Candler’s Professor of Preaching and Ethics Ted A. Exhibition: “A Book More Precious than Gold: Reading the Printed Book Alongside Its Previous Owners and Readers”

Pitts Theology Library’s fall exhibition presents examples of books and the marks left by their readers, each adding a new layer of meaning to an individual volume. While the printing and publication of a book finalizes its content, it also marks the beginning of an ongoing conversation with its readers in which we are invited to participate. Black Seminarians Day

Join in Candler’s second annual Black Seminarians Day, a two-day community-wide celebration of black excellence for prospective and current students, alumni, community leaders, clergy and campus ministers. This year’s theme, “Declare Aloud,” pays homage to the ways in which faith in black communities contributes to both resistance in the face of injustice and flourishing toward newness of life. Starting on Wed., Oct. 16 with a creative and performing artists’ evening event, Black Seminarians Day continues through Thu., Oct. 17 with community worship featuring the Rev. Conitras Houston, Candler alumna and pastor of Trinity AME Church in Atlanta, an alumni mixer, and campus activities for prospective students.
