Assistant Professor of New Testament Jennifer Quigley recently coedited the book Assembling Futures: Economy, Ecology, Democracy, and Religion, which was published in August as part of the Fordham University Press series Transdisciplinary Theological Colloquia.
The compilation of essays seeks to understand the intersection of religion with key societal constructs such as the economy, ecology, and democracy, raising critical questions about the ways in which religion may influence these systems in modern society. The work promotes an interdisciplinary manner of resolving conflicts which have traditionally been left for specialists to solve in isolation, with the expectation that cross-disciplinary approaches may lead to more robust and sustainable solutions.
Assembling Futures features pieces from scholars of varying academic disciplines, including history, political science, theology, and biblical studies. In addition to serving as coeditor with Catherine Keller of Drew University, Quigley also penned the essay “The Costs of Citizenship: Politeuma in the Letter to the Philippians.”
