Fry Brown Honored with Award at Proctor Conference

Fry Brown was celebrated for her lifetime of justice advocacy, teaching, writing, and preaching as one of the 2020 “Beautiful Are the Feet” honorees at this year’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference. The award is named for the Book of Romans chapter 10 verse 15, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” The award ceremony was held in Crystal City, Virginia on February 19. Watch video of the awards.

Fry Brown has taught at Candler since 1994, and has been holder of the Bandy Chair—considered by many to be the country’s premier chair in homiletics—since 2015. In 2010, she became the first African American woman to attain the rank of full professor.
