At Candler’s Fall Convocation on August 27, Dean Jan Love and Emory President Gregory L. Fenves installed Marla F. Frederick as Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Religion and Culture. Asa Griggs Candler professorships were established to recruit and honor distinguished senior scholars with a history of outstanding research, teaching, and service. Across Emory, 23 scholars hold this distinguished chair.
Frederick, who joined the faculty in fall 2019 after 16 years at Harvard University, is the first Asa Griggs Candler Professor at Candler School of Theology in nearly 30 years. Watch the video above for an in-depth look at her teaching and research.
