Two faculty and one staff member received awards at Candler’s annual Honors Day Convocation on April 23, voted on by the Candler community: Associate Professor of American Religious History and Director of the Master of Theological Studies Program Alison Collis Greene received the Faculty Person of the Year Award and Visiting Assistant Professor of Ethics Craig Ford received the “On Eagle’s Wings” Excellence in Teaching Award.
Assistant Professor of Theology and Africana Studies Amey Victoria Adkins-Jones‘ new book Immaculate Misconceptions: A Black Mariology was recently reviewed in The Christian Century.
Associate Dean of Faculty and L. Bevel Jones III Professor of Religious Education Jennifer R. Ayres was quoted in the New York Times article “Eating Healthy? No, They’re Eating Biblically.”
Professor in the Practice of Old Testament and Executive Director of The Candler Foundry Ryan Bonfiglio received Emory University’s 2026 Exemplary Teacher of the Year Award, sponsored by The United Methodist Church’s General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM).
Professor in the Practice of Youth Education and Peacebuilding Elizabeth W. Corrie participated in a conversational webinar series, hosted by the Irish School of Ecumenics at Trinity College Dublin on April 23. The topic of the webinar was “Why Wars?” and brought together voices of women from across the world who, in different ways, encounter war while also embodying forms of resilience and resistance.
William Ragsdale Cannon Distinguished Professor of New Testament Musa Dube was featured on the Emory podcast Impact in Progress and spoke about The Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians and the importance of women’s voices in religious leadership and scriptural interpretation, particularly in relation to climate justice and gender-based violence in Africa.

Charles Howard Candler Professor of New Testament Susan E. Hylen was featured in an April episode of the podcast On the Road with Max Botner on “7 Key Ideas About Gender in the World of the New Testament.”
Associate Professor of Systematic Theology Joy McDougall and Laurie Garramone 24T were featured in The Christian Century’s enewsletter “Taste & Read,” where McDougall wrote about Garramone’s Doctor of Ministry work at Candler which culminated in her founding One Church Street out of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Johnstown, New York.

His lecture was titled, “Executing Conversion: Pietist Success and Unintended Consequences.”
