The early Christian writer Tertullian asked the question, “What does Athens have to do with Jerusalem?”, that is, what is the relationship between what we learn about the world by our own efforts (science) and what God has revealed to us (faith)? This course will explore that question by looking at areas where the conclusions science and faith intersect, whether they conflict, and how the scientific discoveries bear on the content of Christian faith.

This course is presented in partnership with and hosted by Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

The Candler Foundry’s Courses in the Community program offers in-depth learning opportunities situated at the intersection of the church and the academy. Each course is designed to connect traditional topics in theological education to complex pastoral, ethical, and social issues relevant to local communities and the broader public.
