Alonso’s Latest Album Nominated for Latin Grammy Award

October 1, 2020

AlonsoThe most recent album from Assistant Professor of Theology and Culture and Director of Catholic Studies Antonio Alonso has been nominated for the 21st Latin Grammy Awards, the preeminent international honor and the only peer-selected award celebrating excellence in Latin music. Caminemos con Jesús/Let Us Walk with Jesus is one of eight nominees for Best Christian Album (Spanish Language).

Released earlier this year by GIA Publications, Inc., the album is a groundbreaking collection of liturgical music that calls on Alonso’s Cuban musical heritage to provide new ways of singing the liturgy in Spanish, English, or bilingually, exploring what style and musical form caminemos.pngcan teach Christians about praying together across cultural and linguistic boundaries.

The Latin Grammys are voted on by The Latin Academy’s international membership body of music creators, who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers and engineers.

Alonso is a widely published composer of liturgical music in both English and Spanish, with his pieces appearing in hymnals across denominations throughout the world.

The 21st Latin Grammy Awards will be presented on November 19.
