Online Worship

While many Candler students are not on campus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Candler continues to provide ongoing opportunities for worship as an integral part of seminary life. The Office of Worship offers two weekly virtual worship services on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. that are streamed on our website. In addition, the worship team curates a series of devotion moments that are shared on social media weekly on Mondays and Fridays and archived online.

Led by Assistant Dean of Worship and Music Khalia J. Williams, the twenty students who work for Candler’s Office of Worship and help plan chapel services and serve in leadership roles during worship in a typical semester are now cultivating a virtual worship life. Worship engagement ranging  from 30-minute worship services, to recorded prayers and songs, to centering moments will offer different opportunities to sing, pray, meditate, and offer praise to God together within the week.

"My role as a worship coordinator exposed me to numerous liturgical and spiritual practices that changed my myopic view to an expansive view of God. I curated denominational worship services that significantly stretched me beyond my comfort and familiarity. As a Chaplain at Emory University Hospital Midtown, I utilize those experiences as I continue to plan chapel services and engage spiritually with a diverse patient population."
-Deborah Fortune, 20T, Chaplain at Emory University Hospital Midtown
