Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy
The concentration in Chaplaincy introduces students to the breadth of contexts in which one can serve in caregiving ministry while also providing depth in the practices of spiritual care. This concentration is ideal for those seeking APC board certification as a chaplain, eventual pursuit of licensing as a pastoral counselor, or other nonprofit leadership roles that require significant direct care of spiritual needs.
Candler students enrolled in the Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree program may select a concentration in Chaplaincy to focus their studies and experiences while in seminary. The Chaplaincy concentration introduces students to the breadth of contexts in which caregiving ministries take place and provides in-depth preparation in practices of spiritual care through coursework and hands-on experiential learning. This concentration is ideal for those who are exploring vocations in chaplaincy or spiritual direction, eventual pursuit of licensing as a pastoral counselor, or roles in nonprofit and community organizations that involve direct care or significant attention to spiritual needs.
