Candler School of Theology has been named for the seventh time to the Center for Faith and Service’s annual list of “Seminaries that Change the World” (STCTW). Candler was among 18 institutions honored in the inaugural STCTW list in 2013, and has been included ever since. The Center published this year’s list of 24 seminaries on February 10. STCTW was developed by the Center for Faith and Service seven years ago to act as a resource for service-minded young adults seeking ways to grow spiritually, highlighting a select group of seminaries offering innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students to engage in social justice and service work.

“Theological education is being forced to adapt quickly to the changing landscape of Christianity in America, and these schools are flexible and agile enough to respond to those challenges,” says the Center’s director Alison Burchett. “From immigration issues to prison reform to environmental care, schools are leaning into their strengths and building programs that focus on preparing their students to be change-makers.”

This year’s list emphasizes Candler’s Contextual Education curriculum, which gives students an opportunity to connect the dots between faith and justice in both nonprofit and church settings, including prison and immigration/refugee ministries. Learn more about Con Ed at Candler.
