LowreyLang Lowrey III 04T, director of Candler’s Episcopal Studies program and professor in the practice of church leadership, has received an honorary doctorate from the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church (GTS). Lowrey served as president of GTS from 2010 to 2013, leading the institution through a period of broad-based restructuring and the development of new revenue streams.

Lowrey’s honorary degree was conferred during General Theological Seminary’s 196th Commencement ceremonies on May 16. He is one of seven to receive an honorary doctorate from GTS this year. Other recipients include the Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church and the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Rowan Williams, the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury. Learn more.
