April 5 bell hooks Lecture Canceled
Noted author, feminist theorist and social critic bell hooks has canceled her April 5 appearance at Emory University, citing health reasons. hooks was to have addressed “Ending Dominator Culture: Resisting Patriarchy” in a lecture sponsored by a collection of groups from Emory, most notably Candler School of Theology and Dr. George Yancy of the philosophy department.
Organizers of the event received official word of the cancellation on Monday and issued this statement:
“It is with great sadness that bell hooks has had to cancel her upcoming visit to Emory due to health problems. We regret any inconvenience that this has caused. Like all of you, we are great admirers of bell hooks's work and had anticipated a fruitful dialogue with her. She asked that we communicate with all of those who had planned to attend that she is very sorry.”
There are no plans at this time to reschedule the event.
