Candler Named to 'Seminaries that Change the World' for Fifth Time
Candler School of Theology has been named for the fifth time to the Center for Faith and Service’s annual list of “Seminaries that Change the World” (STCTW). Candler was among 18 institutions honored in the inaugural STCTW list in 2013, and has been included ever since. The Center published this year’s list of 32 seminaries on November 1. STCTW was developed by the Center’s executive director Wayne Meisel five years ago to act as a resource for service-minded young adults seeking ways to grow spiritually, highlighting a select group of seminaries offering innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students to engage in social justice and service work. “For justice-minded individuals who are in it for the long haul, seminaries and divinity schools offer some of the most exciting, innovative and world-changing opportunities around,” Meisel says.
This year’s list emphasizes Candler’s Contextual Education curriculum, which gives students an opportunity to connect the dots between faith and justice in both nonprofit and church settings, including prison and immigration/refugee ministries. Learn more about Con Ed at Candler.
