Strom to Present Inaugural Hoffmann Lecture Oct. 29
Professor of Church History Jonathan Strom will give the inaugural Manfred Hoffmann Memorial Lecture on Oct. 29 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta. The lecture series was created by the church to honor the legacy of Professor Emeritus of Church History and Historical Theology Manfred Hoffmann, who served on the Candler faculty for 37 years and was also the longtime theologian-in-residence at Peachtree Road. He passed away in March 2017 at the age of 86.
Strom’s lecture, “The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and Its Meaning for World Christianity,” will critically examine the enduring meaning of the Reformation—as well as some myths—as Protestantism becomes more global and less centered in the West.
The event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and includes a dinner prior to Strom’s lecture. Tickets are available here.
Peachtree Road United Methodist Church is located at 3180 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30305.
