gary-masonGary Mason, Methodist minister and director of Journey Towards Healing with the Northern Ireland Association of Mental Health (NIAMH), will be on campus this week for several speaking engagements. Mason will present a Dean’s Lecture on Wednesday, November 12 on “Reconciliation in a Post Conflict Society” from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 252 of the Rita Anne Rollins Building. On Thursday, November 13, he will preach at Candler worship at 11:05 a.m. in Cannon Chapel. Watch the live stream of this service. Journey Towards Healing takes a psychologically informed approach to conflict transformation in a local, national and international context. Prior to his appointment as the director of Journey Towards Healing, Mason spent 27 years as a Methodist clergyperson in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has worked with both Republican and Loyalist communities in peacebuilding and reconciliation. From 1999 to 2014, Mason was the superintendent and CEO of East Belfast Mission, one of the largest Methodist missions in Europe, known for creativity in the realm of social justice and peacebuilding.
