Tom Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching, was quoted in a New York Times article about an Alabama preacher arrested on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer.

“There is a strand of American Christianity that boils the Gospel down to a story of, ‘Once I was blind, but now I see,’ ” said Thomas G. Long, a professor at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University who researches preaching. “Add a gallon and a half of emotional intensity, and that becomes very attractive to adolescents.”
