On Monday, May 13, the graduating class of Candler School of Theology will line up with students from all of Emory’s graduate and undergraduate programs for the 168th commencement exercises of Emory University. Emory President James W. Wagner will preside and confer degrees at the ceremony on the Quadrangle, which begins at 8:00 a.m.

Following the University ceremony, all Candler graduating students, their family members and friends are invited to a brunch from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Room 102 of the Rita Anne Rollins Building. From the brunch, Candler students and their guests will proceed to Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, where Dean Jan Love will present diplomas in a ceremony that begins at 1:00 p.m.

Should a light rain fall on Monday morning, all activities will proceed as planned. If heavy rain or severe weather is announced on Sunday, then the Quadrangle ceremony will be cancelled and Candler's diploma ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by brunch at noon. If heavy rain or severe weather is announced on Monday morning, the Quadrangle ceremony will be cancelled, but the Candler diploma ceremony will take place at its regularly scheduled time of 1:00 p.m. Information on inclement weather schedules will be available on Emory’s website, Candler’s website, and by phone at 404.727.1234.

The Candler diploma ceremony caps an eventful weekend for the entire Candler community, united in celebration of the Class of 2013. Saturday, May 11 features the Candler Singers Concert at 5:00 p.m. in Cannon Chapel. The Class of 1963’s 50-year reunion dinner follows at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, May 12, all graduating students, their family members and friends are invited to the Service of Sending Forth at 4:00 p.m. in Cannon Chapel, followed by a reception in Brooks Commons.
