Is God Calling Me?Members of Candler’s faculty and staff will be featured in “A Summons to Ministry: Is God Calling Me?” January 11-13, 2013, at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island. The weekend event provides an opportunity for those aged 21 and up who are considering ministry to explore their call through worship, prayers, workshops, small groups, and networking. Dr. Brent Strawn, Candler’s associate professor of Old Testament, will provide one of two keynote addresses with an examination of biblical stories of call.

Mathew Pinson, Candler’s assistant dean of development and alumni relations, will lead two sessions, one for spouses of ministry candidates and one on ministry as a layperson. Pinson is the spouse of a clergy person and the North Georgia Annual Conference Lay Leader.

“A Summons to Ministry: Is God Calling Me?” is sponsored by the North Georgia, South Georgia, Alabama-West Florida, Florida, and South Carolina Conferences of The United Methodist Church, along with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) of The United Methodist Church.

The registration deadline is December 1. Costs for the event depend on lodging required; scholarship aid may be available through local churches or a conference’s Board of Ministry.
