The Candler Singers at General Conference. The Candler Singers, a select group of skilled musicians from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, will present “Life is Stronger than Death: Songs of Hope and Resurrection” May 12 at 5 p.m. in Cannon Chapel on Emory’s campus. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will include church music from around the globe including classical, contemporary, folk, and spirituals.

The Singers have just returned from highly acclaimed performances at the General Conference of The United Methodist Church, where they were the only seminary choir selected to lead in music and worship. This concert, presented two days prior to Emory’s commencement, is the last opportunity to see the Candler Singers until the fall.

The Singers, all students in the seminary, are preparing for a variety of ministries in the church, the academy and the world. They represent several nations, including South Korea, Congo, Canada, the British Virgin Islands and the United States. As musical representatives of Candler, the Singers have given performances at a wide range of churches, regional events and denominational gatherings.

The Reverend Barbara Day Miller, associate dean of worship and music at Candler, directs the Candler Singers. John Richardson is music assistant and accompanist.
