The Rev. Dr. Keith A. Menhinick is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Pastoral Care and Pastoral Theology, and the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Liaison with the Office of Contextual Education. Menhinick works at the intersections of pastoral and practical theology, with particular attention to trauma resiliency, religious practice, spiritual formation, and practices of care in marginalized communities. His doctoral work engaged social scientific research with LGBTQ+ folks who have experienced homelessness in order to examine the intersections of racialized trauma, resilience, and spiritual care in LGBTQ+ communities of faith.

As a certified teacher of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® through the Trauma Resource Institute, Menhinick brings an intercultural and trauma-sensitive approach to teaching in the academy, clinic, church, and community. He has published articles, short stories, blogs, and poems, and his work has appeared in Pastoral Psychology, Practical Matters, Perspectives in Religious Studies, and several edited volumes of nonfiction and poetry. Prior to joining Candler, Keith worked as a Managing Editor of Practical Matters, an interfaith hospital chaplain, children’s home chaplain, Baptist church minister, and high school English teacher. He is an ordained minister in the Alliance of Baptists and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
