Candler School of Theology will host spring convocation on Tuesday, January 10 at 11:05 a.m. EST in Cannon Chapel and online to celebrate the start of the spring 2023 semester.
Candler Dean Jan Love will give opening remarks and Ted A. Smith, Charles Howard Candler Professor of Divinity and associate dean of faculty, will give the convocation address, “No Longer Shall They Teach One Another,” based on Jeremiah 31:31-34.
In addition, three faculty members will be installed in named professorships, academia’s highest recognition for scholarly achievement and distinction:
- Susan E. Hylen as Almar H. Shatford Professor of New Testament
- Joel M. LeMon as Rev. Dr. Donald Allen Harp, Jr. Distinguished Associate Professor of Biblical Studies
- Antonio E. Alonso as Aquinas Assistant Professor of Theology and Culture
