Licensing School

The Emory Course of Study School, Office of Methodist Studies, the South Georgia Conference, and the North Georgia Conference work together to provide one educational program for the licensing of all certified candidates for ministry. The Division of Ordained Ministry, an entity of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, dictates the curriculum for licensing by providing guidelines based on competence in skills of ministry rather than academic achievement. For further information, contact Amy Walker via email at or call 404.727.4587.

Licensing School at Emory is offered in a nine-day, full-time, residential format every year in the spring.

2019 Licensing School

- The 2019 Licensing School will meet May 19-27, 2019.
- Students are expected to attend every day to receive credit.
- The detailed class schedule will be emailed to all registered students.

Our Licensing School is taught in a hybrid format. That means that 12 of the required 80 contact hours will happen online before we meet together in May. The remaining 68 contact hours will be in person on campus in May.

The full cost to attend Licensing School is $1,350. If you are a student in the South Georgia or North Georgia Annual Conferences and are approved to attend, the conference will pay $850 towards your cost. Students are responsible for the remaining balance of $500.

The registration form for Licensing School will be ready in January 2019. At that time, you will find a link here to take you to the registration page.
