Youth Pastor

Position Type: Internships (paid)

How to apply:
Rev. Stacey Hanson

Position Description:
Midway United Methodist Church is in the process of strategically planning, intentionally preparing, and faithfully praying for the future of our students. We are looking for a high capacity, leader with a proven track record of success to help us do exactly this. We currently have approximately 50 middle school and high school students engaged by our youth ministry.

The youth are currently meeting together, both Middle School (6th-8th grades) and High School (9th-12th grades), on Sunday evening. Students and volunteers feel good about the ministry, but most agree that the time may be right for a refreshed vision, and for a full-time, professional Youth Minister. The goal is for the next youth ministry leader to build a strong team of adult volunteers and grow the group into unique middle school and high school ministries.

The youth ministry has embraced and adopted the church-wide “intentional integration” philosophy that looks beyond ministry events and programs to also include participation in those things that will strengthen the whole church.

While we are searching for a Youth Minister to lead our ministry to students, this leader will share the calling of our Senior Pastor and staff to develop a solid family ministry plan to assimilate new families into our church family. The Youth Minister will be a vital partner in family pastoral care/counseling, discipleship/maturity, and strategic program design to include all ages from birth to college graduation.

This role requires strong gifts in youth ministry programming; leadership development of a ministry team, and management of ministry processes, policies and resources; strategic vision for the next 5 to 8 years; as well as a passion for the young people living in the myriad of modern families in our community. We want to be intentional about creating a “belong before you believe or behave” culture, with a strong preference for relational, missional ministry serving both locally and globally.
