commencement Candler provides a variety of financial aid opportunities so that seminary is a real possibility for you. Scholarships are an important part of that. More than 80 percent of full-time Candler students receive scholarship support. The best part? No additional application is required! Your application for admission serves as your application for scholarships. To be considered for scholarships, applications must be submitted by deadlines listed below. Possibilities include:

MDiv scholarships (January 15, 2016):

  • Robert W. Woodruff Fellowships: Award full tuition and a $10,000 annual stipend for three academic years
  • Carpenter Scholarships for Community Engagement: Reward a commitment to community engagement and social transformation
  • Garrett Scholarships: Provide up to full tuition for three academic years for applicants preparing for pulpit ministry
  • The Margaret A. Pitts Scholarship: Covers full tuition and fees and includes a $7,000 annual stipend for applicants preparing for ministry as an elder or deacon in the United Methodist Church
  • Sherman, McDonald, Wesley and Hardin Scholarships: Offer full tuition for applicants preparing for ministry as an elder in the United Methodist Church
  • International MDiv scholarships: Cover up to full tuition for three academic years for applicants who are citizens of countries outside the U.S.
  • Financial aid and scholarships are also available for MDiv applicants pursuing vocations beyond the local church.

MTS and MRL scholarships (January 15, 2016):

Financial assistance and scholarships up to full tuition with stipends are available to MTS and MRL candidates who feel called to vocations in academia, nonprofit work, peacebuilding and more.

ThM scholarships (February 15, 2016):

Financial assistance and scholarships are available.

DMin scholarships (March 1, 2016):

Financial assistance and scholarships are available.
