luther-exhibitOn Tuesday, October 21, Candler School of Theology will host the 27th annual Reformation Day at Emory. The day of lectures, exhibits and music will focus on the theme “Reform in the University and the Church.”

Featured speakers this year include M. Patrick Graham, Margaret A. Pitts Professor of Theological Bibliography and librarian; Timothy Smith, senior pastor, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta; Timothy Wengert, professor emeritus of church history, Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia; and Ian McFarland, associate dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs and Bishop Mack B. and Rose Stokes Professor of Theology at Candler. Barbara Day Miller, associate dean of worship and music and assistant professor in the practice of liturgy, will lead the Candler Singers in a luncheon musical program.

The lectures and music will celebrate Candler’s centennial year and look back on Martin Luther’s pursuit of reform at the University of Wittenberg and in the church. The inaugural exhibit in Pitts Theology Library's new Exhibit Gallery reflects on the same topic. Entitled "Martin Luther's Reform of University and Church," it runs through November 26.
