Emory University Provost Claire E. Sterk will deliver the address at Spring Convocation on Tuesday, January 14 at 11:05 a.m. in Cannon Chapel, marking the beginning of the spring semester at Candler School of Theology. The event will be live-streamed on Candler’s website.
Sterk, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and Charles Howard Candler Professor of Public Health, will address “The Way We View the World,” and install three Candler faculty members as endowed chairs:
John Snarey, Franklin Nutting Parker Professor of Human Development and Ethics
Emmanuel Y. Lartey, L. Bevel Jones III Professor of Pastoral Theology, Care, and Counseling
Ian A. McFarland, Bishop Mack B. and Rose Stokes Professor of Theology
Spring Convocation will be the first event Candler live-streams using the audio-visual technology installed as part of Cannon Chapel’s renovation during the summer of 2013.
Jose C. Rodriguez, Director of Information Technology at Candler, says the upgrades move the school into an exciting new arena.
“For the first time, those who cannot attend Candler in person will be able to experience an event streamed live from the Candler School of Theology website, very similar to Emory's annual live commencement event.”
