The annual Wild Goose Festival, “a community gathered at the intersection of justice, spirituality, music and art,” will take place this weekend, August 8-11, in Hot Springs, North Carolina—and Candler will be there. Candler is one of more than 20 faith- and justice-based organizations and institutions participating in the event.
The theme of this year’s event is “ReMembering the Body,” and speakers include author Phillip Yancey, civil rights icon Vincent Harding, “Emergent Church” thought leader Phyllis Tickle, “Momastery” blogger Glennon Melton, “On Being” host Krista Tippett, and activist/speaker Brian MacLaren, along with more than 65 others. Among the 42 musical acts are the Indigo Girls, Speech from Arrested Development, David LaMotte, and Aimee Wilson.
In addition to speakers and concerts, the festival provides an opportunity for dialogue, with more than 75 discussions, conversations, and explorations of various topics, as well as interaction with Grammy-winning producers, seminary presidents, Oscar-carrying writers and New York Times best-selling authors.
