UM AmbassadorsIf it’s summer, then it’s Annual Conference time in The United Methodist Church. If you’re attending an Annual Conference in the Southeast Jurisdiction, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with one of Candler’s student ambassadors. The ambassadors will be on hand to answer questions about their experiences at Candler, so point prospective students to our table, or stop by yourself for the latest news from your alma mater.

Here are the students who will be representing Candler at Annual Conferences this summer:

Nöel Medsker returns for her second year as an ambassador. A rising third-year MDiv student, Nöel is truly passionate about worship. She has served as assistant worship leader at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur for the past year, and she also has held worship leadership positions in the Office of Worship at Candler and at Tennessee Technological University’s Wesley Foundation. Nöel, who is a Candler Singer, looks forward to talking with alumni about Candler’s new building and the way she experienced God working in her life this past year at Candler.

Marissa Teauseau, a rising third-year MDiv student, is no stranger to manning tables at United Methodist Church events. As an undergrad at UM-affiliated Centenary College in Louisiana, Marissa represented her school often. While at Centenary, she racked up numerous honors and awards, including one for “most likely to succeed in Graduate Religious Studies.” Her time at Candler has included contextual education placements at Wesley Woods and the United Methodist Children’s Home as well as a trip to Israel as part of the World Methodist Evangelism Institute. Next year, she’ll be co-president of the Young Adult Seminarian Network.

Alexander Thompson spent last summer serving as a ministry intern at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Illinois, where he was fully immersed in the role of pastor in a rural church. This summer, he’ll be answering questions at annual conferences about how Candler has molded him and his ministry. Alex has preached at the National Festival of Young Preachers, served as a chaplain at Emory Hospital Midtown, and traveled to Israel with the World Methodist Evangelism Institute. He was recently awarded the Bobby Jones Fellowship, so he’ll be spending the coming academic year at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Katherine Ullmann, a rising second-year MDiv student, is especially looking forward to meeting prospective students at her tables. As a small group facilitator at the UMC’s Exploration 2011, she worked with young adults discerning their call to ordained and lay ministry, and she enjoys explaining why aspiring seminarians should consider Candler as one of their top choices for school. Katie was one of the 20 students who attended General Conference in Tampa as part of a Methodist studies class. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of North Florida, where she was very involved with Access218, a ministry for college students and young adults at a local United Methodist church.
