5th Annual Emory Sacred Harp Singing

Experience a powerful form of worship through a cappella singing in Cannon Chapel on Saturday, February 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sacred Harp singing, also called "shape note singing," is a tradition dating from the early 1800s, and was the subject of the documentary film Awake, My Soul, by Candler graduates Matt and Erica Hinton. Participation is essential in this style of singing, which is made easy by the warm, welcoming, and enthusiastic regular singers. Come for all or part of the day, including a covered dish luncheon at noon in Brooks Commons. For more information, contact Pat Ziebart, pziebar@emory.edu.
