Candler School of Theology looks forward to welcoming members of the 2008 entering class, just as faculty and staff begin to get settled into the new Candler building. We all will be "Moving Into Something New" together, and have taken that as our orientation theme. New Student Orientation is vital for all students as they become acclimated to our shared learning environment and community at Candler.
Orientation begins with opportunities to attend a "Quiet Day Retreat" and a "Strategies for Efficient Reading" workshop on Monday, August 25. Required orientation programs will be held August 26-28, with students required to attend two days, according to their degree program. Orientation will include vital information about curriculum, resources, and expectations.
Students living in President Park Apartments, Candler's graduate housing are invited to attend a welcome picnic, on Monday, August 25. On Wednesday, August 27, all new students and their family members are invited to join returning students, faculty, and staff for a "Moving in Celebration Dinner."
Entering students will receive further details throughout the summer via mail and email. Students are also invited to join the Candler School of Theology 2008 Admitted Students group on Facebook for quick updates and opportunities to communicate with one another and with Candler staff, including Ann Lister, a middler in the Master of Divinity program who is serving as the Student Orientation Assistant, and Cynthia Meyer, assistant dean of students, who oversees New Student Orientation and student life at Candler.
