Classes, reading, lengthy papers, tests and daily responsibilities can take over your life and cause you to forget to pay attention to your own prayer practice and spiritual formation.  The Office of Student Programming (OSP) hears you and wants to let you know there is a place for you.  OSP is offering two small group experiences to help develop or improve your spiritual life while on this journey.

Prayer Practices is a small group that meets every Tuesday, directly following chapel, from 12:00-12:30 pm in the Spiritual Formation room (106) on the lower level of Cannon Chapel. For 30 minutes we focus on a prayer practice that will center you, relieve stress, and bring you closer to God. During October we are practicing Centering Prayer and each month we will learn a new practice. To register for the group click here:

Salt & Soul is a small group where you can build community and covenant with others while eating good food.  While Candler is a great community, often you can feel like a little fish in a big pond. Sometimes you just need someone to be in your corner and hold you accountable so you stay on course during your journey. Maybe you spend half of your day in a lecture hall with several dozen (up to 100!) other students and you need a small community with whom to connect. Perhaps you are a second or third year that has gotten so wrapped up in your work that you have a lost balance between your academic life and social life. Salt & Soul is a great way to address all of these.

Groups will meet monthly in a restaurant, in a group member’s home for dinner or at Candler for lunch.  Although there will be topic provided to guide your discussion and time together, the hope is that the community your build with also be one of support. Significant others and children are welcome too!

There will be a “Kick-off dinner Wednesday, October 15 at 5:30pm in Brooks Commons. To attend the kick off dinner and/or join a Salt & Soul group click here:  (You can join a group even if you cannot attend the dinner.)
