Class Notes

The Rev. Jack Travelstead 53T has served as a pastor and District Superintendent in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of The United Methodist Church. During his years of service, he has helped to establish both the Wesley Village Retirement Community in Macomb, IL and the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL, a world-wide center for responding to national and international crisis.

The Rev. Ronald Brannen 82T is a 2014 Harry Denman Evangelism Award Winner. The Denman awards honor United Methodist clergy, lay, and youth persons in each annual conference who exhibit unusual and outstanding efforts for their work in Christian evangelism.

The Rev. Max Wilkins 87T has been elected as President and CEO of The Mission Society, effective June 1.

Felicia Deas 99T is a contributor to two chapters in Streams Run Uphill: Conversations with Young Clergywomen of Color.

Dr. Michelle Roberts 02T has just published Tastes of the Divine: Hindu and Christian Theologies of Emotion (Fordham University Press).

In Memoriam

The Rev. David C. Cook 74T died on January 16. Major Cook served in the North Alabama Conference and Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church and served as a U.S. Army Chaplain for 25 years.

The Rev. Paul W. Owen 78T died on February 28. He was an elder in the North Alabama Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Dr. Charles Whitworth 52T 60G died on February 1. Dr. Whitworth served as Dean of Shorter College and professor of philosophy and religion from 1962 to 1985.
