Upon admission and before the visa process can begin, international students must complete the Emory University Financial Certificate and provide documentation of sufficient funds for the first year of study (including tuition, fees, books, insurance, travel, and living expenses). Documentation can include scholarships, personal or family savings, and sponsorships. Additional documentation is required for spouses and/or children who plan to accompany the student on dependent visas. International students do not qualify for federal loans and are not required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Documentation in the following amounts is required*
$43,376 single student
$51,776 married student (bringing spouse on F-2 visa)
$55,976 married student with one child (add $4,200 for each additional child)
Financial documentation must be approved by Candler's Office of Admissions and Financial Aid and by the University's International Student and Scholar Services Office no later than July 1 to be processed in time for Fall admission. Completed Financial Certificates and supporting documentation should be mailed to Candler School of Theology's Office of Admission and Financial Aid, Attn: Mary Lou Greenwood Boice, Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid.
* The figures above are for the 2012-13 academic year. The financial certificate for each new academic year will not be available until April prior to that year. Students who wish to submit documentation of funds prior to receiving the official financial certificate for the year in which they wish to enroll should consider that total costs increase by approximately 5 percent each year. The new financial certificate with original signatures will be required even if other documents are submitted early.
