Our Admissions Office team is here to help you discern your call to theological study and your future vocation. Together we have over 40 years of experience in higher education, admissions, financial aid, and ministry.


Mary Lou BoiceMary Lou Greenwood Boice
Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Born and raised in the Boston suburbs, Mary Lou has lived in Atlanta for almost twenty years. She served as Candler’s Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services for several years and has returned to work with students after several years as Associate Dean of Development and External Relations. She is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College (B.A.) and Boston University School of Theology (M.T.S.) A trained facilitator for the Stewards of Children-Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training program, she offers workshops and training for seminary students, local churches, and community agencies. Mary Lou, her husband, and daughter - a freshmen at Emory College - are members of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, where Mary Lou is on the Board of Trustees.

Scott GravesScott Graves
Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid

Scott is a professional in higher education administration with most of his experience in financial aid and scholarships. He was raised in Iowa and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Drake University and his master’s degree in college student development at the University of Iowa. Scott also has great interest in intercultural development. He’s a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory in which he was part of efforts to assess the effects of learning abroad on intercultural development. He comes to Georgia with his wife, and together they enjoy travel, photography, and pursuing an ever stronger faith in the Lord.

Richard LandersRev. Richard Landers
Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment 

Rich is an ordained American Baptist minister who in the past 15 years has served churches in New York state, Chicago and metro Atlanta. As a pastor he has developed creative educational programs, including as a supervisor of recent seminary graduates in a Transition-into-Ministry residency program funded by the Lilly Endowment. Born in Kansas, Rich grew up in Brazil in the cities of Belém and Rio de Janeiro, where his parents were missionaries and theological educators. Rich's wife, Rev. Dr. Andrea C. White, teaches theology at Candler and they live with their two children in Decatur.

Lisa ParkerLisa Parker
Financial Aid Advisor

Lisa is originally from Brooklyn, NY and is an active member of her Baptist church in Atlanta. At the office, Lisa assists students with all things financial, including debt management education, helping students find outside scholarships, overseeing student employment opportunities, and providing financial advice to current or prospective students for budget planning or crisis management situations. Lisa enjoys international travel and has especially fond memories of recent trips to France, England, and Costa Rica (where she spent a summer on Study Abroad). When not studying for classes, providing notary services, or caring for her dog, Sidney, Lisa enjoys planning her next global vacation.

Kerr RamsayKerr Ramsay '10
Associate Director of Admissions

Kerr was graduated from Candler in 2010 with a Master of Divinity. Originally from North Carolina, he worked in admissions at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia for seven years prior to coming to the Candler admissions team. He served for two years as the Youth Minister at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Atlanta and spent the summer of 2009 as a Candler intern with International Relief and Development in Indonesia. He has a passion for American history, the Atlanta Braves, and barbecue. In addition, he and his wife Palmer enjoy traveling and finding great food wherever they land. 

Theresa SimmonsTheresa Simmons
Administrative Assistant

Originally from Chicago, Theresa is a member of Ray of Hope Christian Church. At the office, she is the first person you see when you come in and is responsible for greeting visitors, scheduling campus visits, and scheduling appointments. Although Theresa is somewhat new to Candler, she has been employed by Emory University for twenty years as a police officer with Campus Police—so be nice! She enjoys planning weddings and other events in her spare time, but above all, she loves being a grandmother to her beautiful grandson, Christian.
