Mission

The mission and purpose of Saint Philip A.M.E. Church is to engage in carrying out the spirit of the Original Free African Society out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved; that is, seeking out and saving the lost, serving the needy through: preaching the gospel, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, cheering the fallen, providing jobs saving jobless, visiting those in prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizen homes, caring for the sick and shut-in, and encoiuraging the thrift and economic advancement.

Description

The sanctuary seats 2500 persons and includes a choir, a health ministry room, and the baby attention room. The campus includes a family life center, child development center, bookstore and credit union.

Unique Opportunities for Ministry

St. Philip offers several opportunities to do ministry according to the students interests. These include: youth ministry, young adult ministry, evangelism, pastoral care, media ministry, mission/outreach, religious education, church administration, music, and arts ministry, health ministry, the photography guild, and the career resource ministry.

Outreach
Outreach, mission, and community ministries include: Missionary department, food pantry, Evangelism group, Green Campaign, Young People's Department (YPD), Health Ministry, media ministry or other Community Support groups that we facilitate on campus.

Meeting the Five Areas of Ministry

Administration: The student will be able to work with the administrative and ministerial staff by attending staff meetings while participating in specific duties as approved by the pastor.

Liturgy (Worship and Preaching): The student will be able to attend and participate in worship services on Sunday's as well as during Mid-week services as needed. Preaching opportunities will be provided to the student at the pastor's discretion.

Mission and Outreach: Ways in which the student can participate in mission and outreach include working with our Missionary department, food pantry, Evangelism group, Green Campaign, Young People's Department (YPD), Health Ministry, or other Community Support groups that we facilitate on campus.

Pastoral Calling and Congregational Care: The student will be able to involve him/herself in the experience of pastoral calling and congregational care by working with the Minister of Pastoral Care.

Teaching: The religious education department is very active. The student will be able to participate in activities involving the Sunday school and Bible study at the discretion of the pastor.
