To serve God's people in Midtown and beyond with a ministry of radical hospitality that is open to all regardless of age, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, economic status, or faith history.


St. Mark is a church that worships with approximately 475-500 people each Sunday. The church is located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta at the corner of Fifth and Peachtree Streets. The church is predominantly white. Roughly 90% of our worshipping community is LGBT.

Unique Opportunities in Ministry

St. Mark Church feeds the homeless twice a week, offers them footcare once a month; serves in Honduras every summer, builds habitat houses, and goes on the Appalachian service project.

St. Mark has a clothing closet for those who need assistance. The church has a minister of missions outreach that coordinates this as well as the feeding programs and other mission outreach.

Meeting the Five Areas of Ministry

Administration: The student will participate in any committee meetings of their interest. The student may attend any official meeting such as finance, trustees, administrative board, etc. The student will attend weekly staff meetings.

Liturgy (Worship and Preaching): The student will preach, pray, lead liturgy, design worship, and meet with the worship committee. All Con Ed II students are given an opportunity to preach during the regular Sunday service and to be in the worship rota each week as a liturgist.

Mission and Outreach: Serving in the feeding ministry or on mission teams is encouraged.

Pastoral Calling and Congregational Care: The student will have direct access to visitation, both in hospitals and at homes, as well as counseling with lay people.

Teaching: Teaching classes for children, youth, or adults is encouraged.
