ThD Scholarship Information
Th.D. International Scholarship
International students who are admitted to the Th.D. through Candler are eligible to be considered on a competitive basis for one full-tuition Th.D. international scholarship. This award covers tuition only and is available for the first two years of study, during which time the majority of students complete their required coursework.
Gerkin Scholarship
Each year, one entering or returning international student is also selected to receive the Gerkin scholarship. This award provides approximately $3,000 each year to a ThD student from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, or the Western Pacific.
ThD Matching Grant fundsAll students who receive scholarship funds from sources outside of Emory University and outside of personal funds and who have those scholarships processed as external scholarships through the Candler Office of Financial Aid may receive ThD Matching Grant funds. Matching grant amounts are calculated based on a rate of $70 per credit hour. Maximum match per outside award is therefore $1,050 for those who are enrolled in 15 credit hours; $840 for those who are enrolled in 12 hours; and $630 for those enrolled in 9 credit hours. Matching grants are awarded at the time an outside scholarship is processed through the Candler Financial Aid office and may not be used for international student financial certificate documentation unless the outside donor’s check is provided at the time the financial certificate is submitted.
