Faith and the City is an organization in metro Atlanta and a collaboration among the four Atlanta seminaries. This collaborative partnership seeks to nurture a spirit of mutual community, shared responsibility, and common destiny among the citizens of the Atlanta metropolitan region. The Faith and the City program offers classes, internships and community events specific to its mission.
Currently, the seminaries are combining resources to create a certificate in theology at the Metro State (Women's) Prison, awarding grants to congregations (below), and organizing a conference on Hispanic immigration on March 21, 2009.
Part of this organization has partnered with seminaries in Atlanta to enhance the theological and practical skills students need to engage the church in critical public issues and community ministries. The Director of Faith and the City at Candler is Dr. David Jenkins. Please contact the Office of Contextual Education for more information at 404.727.4178 or visit the Faith and the City website.
Is your community of faith or house of worship actively engaged in addressing specific community challenges? If so, and you feel it has some “best practices” to share with others, Faith And The City encourages you to apply for an award of $750 to recognize outstanding work being done to help build the beloved community in the larger metropolitan Atlanta area.
Faith And The City will grant awards to qualified communities of faith located in the greater metropolitan Atlanta community.
All grants must be used to support the work of the ministry or program that is recognized by the award. For more information visit the Faith and the City website.
